On October 4, 2026, Russia’s state-controlled Zvezda television channel published a video report covering an exhibition of recent developments for Russia’s engineering troops held in autumn 2026.
The footage shows several new smart anti-vehicle mines, including the PTM-K2N, PTM-5, PTM-U/PTM-K, Kupol and Tabletka, and possibly the PTM-7. These are intended to engage vehicles, including lightly armored platforms, such as armored personnel carriers.
Most of the mines shown were developed for UAV delivery and emplacement, which has become the principal method of mine deployment under the new Russian doctrine. They weigh approximately 2 kg and incorporate shaped-charge warheads with liners and electronic initiation systems featuring sensors, arming delays and self-destruct functions.
