During August and September 2026, Iraqi security forces intercepted two major weapons consignments reportedly originating in Iran. The seized materiel included Shahed-101 and Shahed-107 loitering munitions, 47 FPV drones, 46 cylindrical IEDs assessed to be intended as explosive payloads for the FPV drones, and various electronic components, including remote-control initiation systems and suspected PIR sensors. These seizures provide further evidence of a weapons-smuggling route extending from Iran through Iraq and Syria.
