Mobius report 7/2026 – Doppler Radar–Based Initiation Systems, Ukraine

February 1, 20261 min readTerrogence Intelligence Team

During the Russia–Ukraine War, there has been widespread use of advanced electronic initiation systems developed and produced by volunteer groups, alongside official entities. A significant portion of these electronic initiation systems has been designed to initiate explosive payloads and ammunition for UAVs, including loitering munitions and armed UAVs. In addition to this use, some of these systems can also be employed for emplaced IEDs and mines. Among the various systems observed in use are several models of initiation systems operating on the Doppler principle. Recently, alongside models incorporating a single Doppler system, a variant incorporating three Doppler systems arranged in a triangular configuration was identified, intended to provide improved all-round coverage.
