VP-2A PRO RC initiation mechanisms have recently been observed being used as initiation systems for OFAB-100-110 aerial bombs employed as warheads on large loitering munitions deployed by Ukrainian forces.
Previously, VP-2A and VP-2A PRO mechanisms were documented primarily as remote receivers installed on lightweight fixed-wing UAVs. These mechanisms belong to a family of Ukrainian-manufactured RC initiation systems developed mainly for EOD and special units, intended for remote initiation or emplacement of explosive charges.
The family is associated with the Ukrainian PK-8 RC initiation system, which includes a transmitter and multiple VP-series receivers. Several receiver variants are currently assessed to exist, including VP-1 PRO, VP-2A, and VP-2A PRO. These RC receivers typically feature arming delays, self-destruct or initiation upon low battery voltage, and – on some models – anti-handling features, such as movement sensing or magnetic field change detection.
