TGA0854 – Russian Improvised EFP Designed for UAV Release

October 1, 20251 min readTerrogence Intelligence Team

Between August and October 2025, a new type of shaped-charge IED, designed for release from a UAV, was documented in the Ukrainian theater. Images of the device were primarily shared on Russian combat-focused Telegram channels, where it was identified as the “Crown” — an improvised mine produced by Russian actors for deployment by Russian forces against Ukrainian targets. The Crown represents a new Russian variation of an improvised EFP designed for UAV deployment, although the limited documentation – consisting mostly of unexploded examples – suggests it may not yet be particularly effective.
