Mobius report 75/2025 – Geran-3 Loitering Munition and Developments in the Geran-2

October 1, 20251 min readTerrogence Intelligence Team

On September 18, 2025, Ukrainian forces recovered an intact, turbojet-powered Geran loitering munition near Chernihiv, in northern Ukraine. Inspection identified it as a Geran-3 fitted with a standard OFZBCh-50 (50 kg) fragmentation-incendiary warhead.

The Geran-3 continues the Geran family lineage originating from Iran’s Shahed-136 (fielded as the Geran-2). Russian local production of Geran-2 variants introduced multiple warhead configurations and, more recently, added payloads for dispersal of submunitions en route to the terminal target.
