During the first half of 2025, particularly between March and July, numerous reports and extensive documentation highlighted the seizure of weapons by Myanmar’s junta forces and allied local militias in Kachin State and adjacent northern regions. These seizures were attributed to operations against the Kachin Independence Army, the largest armed group opposing the regime, which maintains control over significant parts of the region, especially along the Chinese border. On June 19, 2025, regime forces published documentation of a wide range of weapons from seizures from several operations against KIA militants.
