On July 24, 2025, reciprocal strikes and artillery fire commenced between the armies of Thailand and Cambodia, continuing until July 28, 2025, when a ceasefire was agreed upon. During the fighting, footage was released showing armed UAVs employed by the Thai military, which were used to conduct strikes across the border into Cambodia.
The documentation revealed two types of ammunition for the armed UAVs – modified mortar bombs and improvised fragmentation bomblets, apparently of Thai manufacture. These publications mark the first observed operational use of armed UAVs by the Royal Thai Army, which, according to the footage, appeared to have achieved operational success in striking Cambodian positions and ammunition depots.
