Mobius report 58/2025 – Small Underbelly EFPs Planted Using Large UAVs, Ukraine

In July 2025, documentation of two intact Ukrainian EFPs deployed over Russian positions using large rotary-wing UAVs was shared in a Russian combat-focused Telegram channel. The EFPs, identified as PTM-L1 models, have reportedly been in use by Ukrainian forces since approximately June 2024. An examination of the EFP’s ECB indicates the initiation system – marked RUTA-Fpv1 – likely incorporates a magnetic sensor, a component commonly employed with this type of IED.
