On May 6, 2025, the Balochistan Liberation Army carried out a remotely-controlled IED attack against a command vehicle of the Pakistani security forces in Bolan, Balochistan Province. Twelve security personnel were killed in the incident. Before the convoy passed, the route was thoroughly swept for mines and IEDs by EOD personnel. The BLA claimed responsibility for this attack and another carried out the same day in the Tigran area, in which two more security personnel were killed.

Over the past year and a half, several IED attacks have targeted Pakistani security forces in Balochistan, where the BLA operates, and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan operates. These attacks were characterized by the use of remotely-controlled IEDs that caused direct harm to the forces, despite their extensive use of electronic countermeasure systems for protection against radio-controlled threats.
