Between June 13 and 24, 2025, in the course of Operation “Rising Lion,” Iran launched approximately 530 ballistic missiles at Israel. Of these, about 86% were successfully intercepted by Israeli and allied missile defense systems. While a number of missiles landed in unpopulated areas, 36 struck populated zones, causing significant damage and casualties.

Among the missiles that penetrated Israeli defenses, three were reportedly equipped with cluster munition warheads, which dispersed submunitions over urban areas. The impacts were concentrated in several major cities: Tel Aviv, where 478 buildings were damaged – 20 severely; Ramat Gan, where 257 buildings were damaged; Be’er Sheva, which suffered three direct hits, including damage to a building in Soroka Hospital, and five residential buildings were declared uninhabitable; and Haifa, which sustained several hits, including in the oil refinery area, resulting in the deaths of three people. In total, 28 civilians were killed as a result of missile impacts in Israel during the 12 days of the war.
