Mobius report 51/2025 – Man-Portable C-UAS Kinetic Interceptors, Ukraine

July 1, 20251 min readTerrogence Intelligence Team

Recent Russian documentation indicates the battlefield employment of a man-portable kinetic counter-UAS interceptor, observed in official Russian Ministry of Defense videos as the Cyclop system and designated “Yolka” by frontline personnel. The system is characterized by a small rocket-like fuselage, high-speed intercept capabilities against enemy UAVs, and is reportedly equipped with “fire-and-forget” functionality. However, despite alleged operational use, intelligence indicates no evidence of mass production or widespread integration into Russian infantry and motorized units. This suggests its future deployment will likely remain restricted to the defense of critical infrastructure or high-value assets. Both Russian and Ukrainian forces continue to heavily invest in developing cost-effective kinetic interceptors. These systems include UAVs remotely controlled by human pilots and have demonstrated effectiveness primarily against fixed-wing reconnaissance UAVs and loitering munitions, though they remain severely limited against agile FPV racing drone-based improvised loitering munitions.
