From April 21 through mid-May 2025, Operation Black Forest was conducted against the Naxalite organization in the forested areas spanning the Indian states of Chhattisgarh and Telangana. As part of the operation, Indian security forces uncovered and seized a significant amount of weapons, including improvised rifle grenades, improvised mortar bombs, improvised hand grenades, IEDs of various sizes, and camera flash-based IED initiation systems.
The operation was launched in response to a significant increase in Naxalite terror activity in the preceding months, which manifested in both the number of incidents and the growing use of larger and deadlier IEDs.
