Mobius report 32/2023 – Assassination of Vladlen Tatarsky, St. Petersburg, Russia

On April 2, 2023, an explosion occurred at Street Food Bar № 1, located on the corner of 6-Ya Liniya V.o. and Leytenanta Shmidta embankment, in St. Petersburg, Russia. A well-known military blogger named Maxim Fomin, also known under the pseudonym Vladlen Tatarsky, was killed in the blast and over 30 other people suffered various degrees of injury, eight of them serious. The investigation of the incident by Russian security forces revealed an IED concealed inside a bust had initiated, killing Maxim Fomin (Vladlen Tatarsky) in a targeted assassination. According to the investigators’ assessment, the IED was initiated remotely and the assassination was planned and carried out by Ukrainian security forces.
