Early on the morning of September 29, 2022, an explosion occurred in the city of Henichesk, located between the villages of Plavskoe and Sokolohornoe, in Kherson Oblast, in eastern Ukraine. An IED attack had targeted electricity towers of the Dzhankoy-Melitopol power line, through which electricity is supplied to the territories of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The corner supports of several towers were damaged, and other intact IEDs, attached to several other towers, were discovered and neutralized by bomb disposal technicians. The IEDs comprised plastic explosives shaped at 90-degree angles, with micro RC remote control initiation systems and a delay timer.

The electricity infrastructure in eastern Ukraine, territory currently occupied by Russian forces, has represented an ongoing target for Ukrainian forces for some time now, similar to other types of infrastructure in territories occupied by Russian forces.
