Mobius report – Large IED Concealed in a Garbage Truck Initiated, Pattani, Thailand

On June 20, 2022, at around 9:20 PM, a garbage truck containing an IED exploded between a Police service unit building and a gas station in Village No. 1, in the Khuan Subdistrict of Panare District, adjacent to Route 42, in Pattani Province, in southern Thailand. As a result of the blast, three police officers were injured, one critically. The garbage truck was stolen from municipal employees at 8 PM the same evening, and about one hour later, after a large IED had been placed inside it, it was driven to the scene, accompanied by a motorcyclist and parked between the gas station and the Police Service Unit building. The truck driver dismounted the truck, fled the scene with the waiting motorcyclist, and about one minute later, the explosion occurred.
