Mobius report 25/2022 – Scatterable Mines in Ukraine

May 1, 20221 min readTerrogence Intelligence Team

Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the use of a variety of scatterable mines (both anti-personnel and anti-tank) has been reported in focused areas of fighting, mostly in Kharkiv, in northeastern Ukraine. Four main types of scatterable mines have been documented, which appear to have been dispersed using MLRS systems and helicopters. While most of the types of mines that have appeared so far are known from the use of the Russian military and its allies in other battlefields in recent years, such as Syria, this is the first documentation of the POM-3 AP scatterable mine in a combat role.
